Arrival Day - Arrival from 3pm with Afternoon Tea

Day 1

Children Dance Masterclass

Jess, the owner of children’s dance school Core Dance will create a fantastic dance performance together with your children! Jess will lead a dance session every day of your stay leading up to the grand performance on a real stage on your last day.

Family Cook-off

Get the whole family cooking in a MasterChef style competition! Which team can correctly name all different herbs and spices (blindfolding the adults to keep it fair!), who cooks the best dish in the Mystery Box challenge (guess what - the garden is in play!) or decorates the best cake in the Bake-off competition? Head chef Bent will be the judge and might even lend a hand...

Day 2

Horse Riding

Children from 4 years old can enjoy a private introductory horse riding lesson, or for more experienced riders we can arrange a guide to take you on an expedition along the tracks and bridleways to explore the rolling hills of the Leicestershire countryside.

Paint Masterclass with Rediscovered By

Charlotte Krone (Rediscovered By) is a textile designer and screen-printer based in Rutland, UK. Trained at Goldsmiths University and the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, Charlotte rediscovers historical and traditional textile techniques and applies these in unexpected ways to diverse range of interiors, from historic homes to contemporary spaces.

At Keythorpe Hall, Charlotte has designed artwork and fabrics with flowers from our garden, used her foxgloves print for a dreamy bed head in one of the bedrooms and has created amazing printed table linen for Keythorpe’s dining room.

One of Charlotte’s prints is inspired by butterflies and in this workshop she will reveal the tips and tricks on creating a fantastic butterfly print yourself. Children can create their own tote-bag or t-shirt to take home and perhaps the adults would like to have a go as well…

Day 3

Flower Class

Pick your own flowers from the cut flower beds in the Walled Garden while learning about different plants and flowers. Back at the house, create your own jam jar arrangement and flower crown with the help of Isobel from Pickleberry Flower.

Alice in Wonderland Lawn Games with Rhubarb Theatre

Join Rhubarb Theatre for a wonderland experience as you shrink into the gardens of the Queen of Hearts to find yourselves amongst her large lawn games. Once there you might get knotted up in the Alice-themed twister, go crackers with the croquet, or become champions of the chequers board. But watch out for her court jokers, they visit bringing mayhem and madness as the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and even the Queen herself tumble into play.

This is a great interactive experience for the whole family, combining theatre & family games.

Day 4

Circus School

Have you always wanted to try your hand on the trapeze, aerial hoops or fancy learning some clown tricks? This is a great workshop ran by real circus professionals - improving balance, strength and learning some great new tricks!

Camp Out

An exciting outdoor adventure for kids in the woodland at Keythorpe Hall. While the adults dine and sleep in the house, the kids have their own adventure outdoors - lighting campfires, building shelters, wilderness first aid, games, outdoor cookery and much more. The whole family can join for a bush breakfast the next morning!

Day 5

Falconry

Full falconry experience both thrilling and educational with up to 6 different birds of prey (owls, falcons, eagles and hawks). Even younger children will be able to hold and fly little owls and kestrels!

Dance Performance

After spending all week dancing with Jess from Core Dance, it is now time for the performance! We will set up a real stage with lights and some great outfits so the kids feel like real performers!

Day 6

Dawn chorus

For any early risers we will take you on a magical sunrise walk listening to our resident birds sing to the awakening day. Your guide will tell you all about the birds’ habitats, lifestyles and how to identify each unique song. A truly memorable way to finish your stay with us!
