Our story

A fabulous house that we describe as perfectly imperfect, a house where we really want our guests to relax, to gather with friends and family. Where our in-house team is there to guide and provide you with a completely personalised stay. Available as your private hideaway and solely for exclusive use.

We have been inspired by the amazing resources of this old estate, the walled garden, the farms and a home built for generous entertaining. Keythorpe Hall is where our dream and vision for a relaxed, yet indulgent home has been created.

During the multi-year restoration of the house and walled garden, we have unlocked forgotten history, discovered hand painted wallpapers, bricked up doorways, derelict glasshouses, lost paths and overgrown fruit trees.

We now grow our own vegetables and cut flowers in the rejuvenated walled garden without the use of any nasty chemicals, and work closely with local farmers and small artisan businesses to find the best produce around us. We eat what’s available when it’s at its best.

Our philosophy is based on combining a sustainable and a comfortable private home with an extraordinary gastronomic experience that respects the seasons and the local terroir.

We want you to feel at ease, be comfortable and enjoy the quirks, nuances, and style of Keythorpe Hall. We want to help you to explore what is around us in the wonderful historic gardens and beyond.

Our aim is to give time to the time poor and to create a lasting memory of charm, fun, warmth, and culinary excellence.

Things we care about

Local – We prefer to use what is around us, whether that is the amazing milk from the cows in the neighbouring field, a wall hanging from a local artist, or the products you find in your bathroom. The produce we use in the kitchen is impeccably sourced or freshly harvested from the garden at its absolute peak

Ethical – We care about sourcing, transparency, and production methods and expect nothing less from our suppliers – creating our; ‘values chain’. We evaluate our supplier list on a regular basis to ensure we are constantly challenging ourselves and working with our suppliers to excel in the values we truly care about

Sustainable We actively promote biodiversity in the gardens, avoid single use plastics and use biomass to heat the house. We are not yet perfect, but we believe every little step helps.

Quality not quantity – We want everything we serve our guests to taste delicious. In the Walled Garden we grow for flavour rather than yield, and so the kitchen can build a menu around the best ingredients, some which you may not find in an industrialised food system.

Our Team – We want our team to learn and grow whilst working here, and for it to be a safe, supportive and inspiring place to work.
